Day 1.Arrival  in Kigali city -Rwanda

Arriving at Kigali International Airport can be quite an experience. As your plane descends, you might catch glimpses of Rwanda’s lush green landscape from your window. Upon landing, you’ll be greeted with the warm Rwandan hospitality that the country is known for.

Inside the airport, you’ll find a modern and efficient facility, reflecting Rwanda’s commitment to development and tourism. The airport staff are usually friendly and helpful, making the arrival process smooth and hassle-free.

Your tour guide will be waiting to welcome you in the land of a thousand hills-Rwanda and later drive off to your reserved hotel for a relaxation after a long flight.

Day 2. Kigali City tour experience

Enjoy the scenic drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park. As you leave the city behind, you’ll pass through rural villages, rolling hills, and terraced farmland, offering glimpses of everyday life in Rwanda.

Stop at Kinigi Town: en route to Volcanoes National Park, make a stop at Kinigi Town, the gateway to the park. Stretch your legs, visit a local market, and perhaps pick up some snacks, souvenirs or any other shopping you may need.

Reach Volcanoes National Park by midday or early afternoon. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge or accommodation near the park headquarters. Enjoy a delicious lunch at your lodge or a nearby restaurant.

Embark on your hike through the dense forests of Volcanoes National Park. The trail to the Dian Fossey Tomb can be challenging, with steep sections and uneven terrain, but the breathtaking scenery and sense of adventure make it worthwhile. Along the way, your guide will share insights into Dian Fossey’s pioneering work with mountain gorillas and the conservation efforts in the park.

After a few hours of hiking, reach the Dian Fossey Tomb, located in a serene clearing within the forest. Day 6 OF 17 days Rwanda Uganda Primates: Rwanda Uganda boarder crossing

Begin your day by checking out from your lodge in Volcanoes National Park. Ensure you have all necessary travel documents, including your passport, permits, and any required visas for entry into Uganda.

Leave Volcanoes National Park in the early morning, aiming to reach the Cyanika border crossing between Rwanda and Uganda. Enjoy the scenic drive from Volcanoes National Park to the Cyanika border. The journey typically takes around 1-2 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic.

Upon arrival at the Cyanika border, proceed to the immigration checkpoint to exit Rwanda. Present your passport and any relevant documents to the immigration officials for processing.

Once you’ve cleared Rwandan immigration, proceed to the Ugandan side of the border. Complete the necessary immigration formalities to enter Uganda, including presenting your passport and obtaining any required visas or permits.

Welcome to Uganda: As you enter Uganda, take a moment to appreciate the change in scenery and cultural landscape. Uganda is known as the “Pearl of Africa” for its stunning natural beauty and diverse wildlife.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park

As the sun begins its ascent over the mist-covered hills, the day in Bwindi begins with a sense of anticipation and excitement. You will gather at the park headquarters with other trekkers, where you will be briefed on the rules and guidelines for gorilla trekking and later the trek into the forest will commence.

The forest comes alive with the sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves as the trekking group delves deeper into the heart of Bwindi. Every step brings a new discovery – exotic flora, curious insects, and perhaps even the distant call of a gorilla family.

The trek itself can vary in duration and difficulty depending on the location of the gorilla families on that particular day. It can be physically demanding, but the reward of seeing these gentle giants in their natural habitat is truly incomparable.

Once you’ve found the gorillas, you will be permitted one hour to watch them and take as much photos as you can following the guidelines. Later, you will descend back and relax at the lodge after a hard morning in the thick jungle of Bwindi.

Day 8: Relax and Explore Lake Bunyonyi

Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda is known for its stunning scenery and tranquil atmosphere, making it the perfect destination for relaxation and exploration.

Spending a day there, soaking in the breathtaking views and taking a sunset boat ride to explore the various islands sounds like a dream come true. The serene waters, lush greenery, and charming islands would create a memorable experience that’s both peaceful and awe-inspiring. Exploring Lake Bunyonyi is a captivating experience, with its myriad of islands, each offering unique sights and activities. Here’s a glimpse of what you might encounter during your exploration.

Island Hopping: Lake Bunyonyi is dotted with around 29 islands, each with its own story and character. You can embark on a journey to visit some of these islands, such as Punishment Island, which has a haunting history, or Bwama Island, known for its scenic views and cultural experiences.

Nature Walks: Many of the islands are uninhabited and covered in lush vegetation. Take a leisurely stroll through the forests, enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Keep an eye out for colorful birds and butterflies that inhabit the area.
